Woman accused of hacking gran to death remanded in custody

 

woman accused of hacking a gran to death with a 12in butcher’s knife as she walked to work was yesterday remanded in custody. Nicola Edgington, 31, ­allegedly murdered accounts manager Sally Hodkin, 59, by slashing her neck. She is also accused of attempting to murder Kerry Clark, 23, at a bus stop minutes earlier on Monday. Advertisement >> Edgington is said to have taken a knife from a butcher’s in Bexleyheath, South East London, at about 8.30am. She did not attend ­yesterday’s Old Bailey bail hearing. Prosecutor Jacob Hallam said she was in a secure psychiatric unit. The judge said: “No one requires her to be here.” Edgington, of Greenwich, South East London, is due to enter pleas on January 17.
