woman accused of hacking a gran to death with a 12in butcher’s knife as she walked to work was yesterday remanded in custody. Nicola Edgington, 31, allegedly murdered accounts manager Sally Hodkin, 59, by slashing her neck. She is also accused of attempting to murder Kerry Clark, 23, at a bus stop minutes earlier on Monday. Advertisement >> Edgington is said to have taken a knife from a butcher’s in Bexleyheath, South East London, at about 8.30am. She did not attend yesterday’s Old Bailey bail hearing. Prosecutor Jacob Hallam said she was in a secure psychiatric unit. The judge said: “No one requires her to be here.” Edgington, of Greenwich, South East London, is due to enter pleas on January 17.
